President Deborah Gleason, FASPR, CMSR-FMSD, is Physician Development Administrator at The Nebraska Medical Center, a not-for-profit organization and the teaching hospital for the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Debbie has been an active member of ASPR since 2000. She has served as a Co-Chair of the Benchmarking Committee for several years and currently serves as a member of the Fellowship and Education Committees. As a charter member of Academic In-House Recruiters (AIR-a chapter of ASPR) she formerly served as Vice President. Debbie is an active charter member of the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas Recruiting and Retention Network (MINK-MidwestMD) where she has served in a variety of roles including President, Secretary, and Legislative Committee Chair.
Prior to joining The Nebraska Medical Center, she served as Manager of Physician Recruitment, Development and Retention at a large physician-owned multi-specialty group representing over 40 specialties and 160 physicians. During her 20+ years in healthcare, she has held a variety of roles in administration, operations, management and training. Her experience in the healthcare industry includes physician recruiting, development, retention and mentoring, collaborating in a medical center setting with both academic and private practice physicians along with rural hospital recruiting and consulting. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for a Critical Access Hospital.
As a member of the American Academy of Medical Management (AAMM) she has obtained Re-Certified Medical Staff Recruiter (CMSR/RMSR) and Fellow of Medical Staff Development (FMSD) certifications. She is a member of the American College of Hospital Executives (ACHE) and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
She holds a bachelors degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Economics from Wichita State University.
President-Elect Laura Screeney, FASPR, with a background in medical group operations and physician recruitment & retention, Laura has been a leader in the in-house Physician Recruitment industry for over 20 years.
To date, Laura has developed and directed the in-house Physician Recruitment programs for healthcare organizations from coast to coast. Laura’s background includes: HIP Health Plan (NY, NJ, PA & FL), Kaiser Permanente (CA), Lifetime Health Medical Group (Buffalo, Rochester & Syracuse, NY), Geisinger Health System (PA), Atlantic Health System (NJ), the Alaska Native Medical Center (AK) and the United States Army at Fort Huachuca, AZ.
As a charter member of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters, Laura has played an integral role in the organization’s development and growth. Laura has been a Board Member and Education committee chair and is currently co-editor of the Journal of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (JASPR). Laura remains active on many other ASPR volunteer committees and also serves as Chair of Education for NEPRA.
Laura recently returned “home” to New York State (specifically, Long Island) to join the North Shore LIJ Health System. In her newly created role as Corporate Director, Office of Physician Recruitment, Laura will be responsible for the development of an in-house Physician Recruitment Program to support 15 hospitals and the new Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine. The North Shore LIJ Health System is the proud recipient of the 2010 National Quality Healthcare Award from the National Quality Forum (NQF).
Treasurer Michelle Seifert, AASPR, is the Director of Physician Recruitment Main Campus at the Cleveland Clinic. She has been with the Clinic since the inception and development of the department in 2001 and enjoys the challenges of recruiting for all specialties. In addition to her responsibilities for physician recruitment at the Main Campus, Michelle has oversight of the Resident and Fellow Initiative as well as addressing pursuit of candidates that will bring a more diverse physician population to the Clinic. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, she was the Manager of Corporate Development and Director of Financial Reporting for an affiliate of Team Health. Her scope of responsibilities included New Business Ventures, Acquisition Analysis, Financial Reporting, Recruitment and Marketing. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and currently holds a non-practicing active CPA license in the State of Ohio. She is also an active member of Academic In-House Recruiter’s Network (AIR) and has held leadership roles with the group, Treasurer 2008 – 2010 and Vice President 2010 – 2012. Volunteer for 2014 Cleveland Go Red for Women Corporate Leadership team, American Heart Association; 2014 Co-Chair – Open Your Heart Committee, American Heart Association; 2012 Junior Achievement Volunteer.
Secretary Donna Ecclestone, FASPR, is Assistant Director of Physician Integration at Duke Medicine. A national speaker and content expert on physician onboarding, Donna is responsible for streamlining and standardizing the onboarding initiatives across Duke’s faculty group practice.
Donna started her career at Duke in 1997 as a staff recruiter for the Office of Medical Staff Recruitment. In 2001 she was promoted to Assistant Director, managing a staff of five in-house recruiters. Donna holds a Bachelors in Business Marketing and Management and has seventeen years of recruitment experience in both the in-house and contingency arenas. She has been an ASPR member for six years and has served ASPR on both the benchmarking and fellowship committees. A founding member of Academic In-House Recruiter networks (AIR), Donna has been actively involved with the growth of AIR during the past four years, serving as the group’s first President and current Secretary. She is also integrally involved with the launching of “OAR”, a new special interest group in ASPR focusing on onboarding and retention initiatives.
Executive Director Jennifer Metivier, MS, FASPR, was the Manager of Physician Recruitment and Retention at Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, NY since 2004. She developed and implemented the hospital’s first in-house physician recruitment and retention program and has been involved with various other activities including Medical Manpower Planning and Strategic Planning initiatives. Jennifer is the Founder and a former President of Upstate New York Physician Recruiters, Inc. (UNYPR), a regional association of in-house physician recruiters. She has been a member of ASPR since 2004.
In May 2013, Vice President, Governance Frank Gallagher, joined AtlantiCare as their Director of Physician Recruitment. AtlantiCare, located in coastal southern New Jersey, is the region’s largest healthcare organization with more than 5,200 employees and 600 physicians. In this role, Frank is responsible for the development and execution of strategies related to the recruitment of physicians across the system’s nearly 70 locations.
For the past five years, Frank worked as a Senior Physician Recruiter and later as Interim Director, Physician & Advanced Practitioner Recruitment for Baystate Health. In both roles Frank managed the physician faculty searches at Baystate Medical Center, the academic medical center of the three-hospital system based in Springfield, Massachusetts. The medical center also serves as the Western Campus of Tufts University School of Medicine.
In August 2012, Frank began serving a two-year term as a Member-at-Large on the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters’ (ASPR) Board of Directors and previously served as the association’s Co-Chair of its Chapter & Regional Relations Committee. Frank is also a past president of the Academic In-House Recruiters (AIR) Network, an official chapter of ASPR.
Frank began his physician recruitment career with Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Pennsylvania, an academic community health system, where he worked as a Physician Recruiter starting in 2004. Prior to his career in physician recruitment, Frank gained valuable experience in Human Resources as an HR Generalist and HR Manager, as well as a Corporate Recruiter.
Frank received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Temple University and earned a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Widener University. Frank and his wife, Marcella, have five children.
Vice President, Education Allen Kram, FASPR, has more than 20 years of Physician Recruitment experience and is currently the Director of Physician Development for Health Quest a three hospital system in New York’s Hudson Valley. In this position, Allen works with the system to develop and grow the Health Quest Medical Practice, PC. Allen’s responsibilities include; physician recruitment, On-Boarding, Compensation analysis, practice acquisitions and the physician liaison program.
Allen has been a member of ASPR for over seven years and is the Co-Chair of the ASPR Education Committee. He is also an active member of the Fellowship Committee. Additionally, Allen regularly speaks on topics related to physician recruitment at regional and national conferences. Allen serves as a Director and founding member of the Upstate New York Physician Recruiters group.
Prior to joining Health Quest, he was the Senior Physician Recruiter for the Mid Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. Allen has a BS from the State University of New York and an MPA from New York University's Wagner School of Public Administration, where he specialized in Health Care Policy and Management. He resides in Lagrangeville, NY with his wife and two children.
Vice President, Engagement Lee Moran is the Director of Physician Recruitment for Erlanger Health System, Chattanooga, TN. In addition to her physician recruitment role at the main campus, she also covers 3 satellite campuses and has responsibility for physician retention and medical staff development. Lee also assists the University of Tennessee College of Medicine-Chattanooga with physician recruitment at Erlanger’s main campus.
Lee started her career in nurse recruitment in 2000 before transitioning to pharmaceutical sales for several years. She has 5 years experience in physician recruitment.
Lee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Presbyterian College. She has been an ASPR member for 3 years. Lee helped to launch the Southeast Physician Recruiters Association (SEPRA), a chapter of ASPR, in 2012. She is currently serving as President of SEPRA. Lee also serves on ASPR’s Chapter and Regional Relations Committee.
Vice President, Research Shelley Tudor, FASPR, is a strategic recruiter with Humana. Prior to joining Humana, she spent more than ten years working in fields of medical affairs, physician relations and recruitment. She has worked with private practices, hospitals, academic medical centers, and now the insurance industry to develop manpower strategies embracing an integrated healthcare model. She lead the development of ASPR’s Benchmarking initiative, was a member of the Ethics Committee, has acted as liaison to the Marketing and Membership committees, and is serving her second term on ASPR’s Board of Directors.
