Resource Library Featured Item: Physician Recruiting Year-End Dashboard

Description: http://aspr.org/associations/10362/files/ipad-papers.pngYou put a lot of time and effort into filling positions, but are you being recognized for your efforts and accomplishments? If you aren’t reporting regularly to your administrators, they may not have a clear understanding of how much work you are actually doing. Even if you don’t have a fancy database or tracking system, you can still create reports and present useful information to justify your role in the organization and show that you are the expert when it comes to physician recruitment.

If you find it a challenge determining what to report, check out this excellent example in our Resource LibraryPhysician Recruiting Year-End Dashboard. This is labeled a "year-end” document, but these data points could be shared on a more frequent basis like quarterly or even monthly. To show your data against national averages as shown in this example, be sure to get a copy of the ASPR Benchmarking Report.

Do you have a resource you’d like to share? Please send documents that you feel may be helpful to the Resource Library Committee.

Reminder: FASPR Recertification Requirements

As a Fellow of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (FASPR), it is important to demonstrate continued commitment to education and advancement in the physician recruitment profession. In an effort to ensure that FASPRs maintain an appropriate level of education commensurate with the FASPR designation, ASPR has developed FASPR recertification requirements.

Beginning January 1, 2012, FASPR certification will be valid for three years from the date of certification. Recertification will be required within three months of the FASPR expiration date. FASPRs who obtained certification prior to January 1, 2012 will have three years to obtain their recertification requirements and must meet recertification requirements by January 1, 2015. The following criteria must be met in order to obtain FASPR Recertification:

  • Must be a current ASPR Member in good standing
  • Obtain a minimum of 24 CEUs over the three year period since most recent FASPR certification
  • If 24 CEUS are not obtained, recertification may also be obtained by re-taking and passing all three fellowship exams
  • Requirements must be met within three months of FASPR expiration

If these criteria are met, you will receive a new FASPR Certificate upon your recertification. Once you have re-certified three times, you will receive a Lifetime Certification and will not be required to re-certify again.

Learn more about eligible CEUs, the recertification application process, and FAQs on the ASPR website.

I can't ask that ... can I? Living in a litigious society means hospitals are vulnerable if patients feel an outcome is negative; but what about screening candidates? What if a candidate is dissatisfied with your process and outcome? Is your screening process compliant? Are documents up to date? Better check it out before you check them out or you could find yourself in legal hot water!

The world of background checks has changed considerably in the past 20 years. There is more information available but also more restrictions and regulations governing its use. How can you screen thoroughly and effectively without violating state or federal laws? Find out how different laws impact everything from the questions you are asking to what to do with negative information if any is revealed.

This webinar will cover the FCRA, the CFPB, the EEOC, FACTA, using Social Media and more. You’ll learn what you can ask, what you can uncover and what can you use during the screening process. Legally!

Learning Objectives:

  • Review internal process for compliance with federal regulations, applicable state statutes and/or local ordinances.
  • Review internal documentation for violations and exclusions/inclusions of prohibited/permitted language.
