A Letter from the Executive Director

By Jennifer Metivier, MS, FASPR, ASPR Executive Director

Jen Metivier, DASPR“Connect More. Learn More. Be More.” That is the tagline on the new ASPR membership brochure and that is what we strive to help all ASPR members to do! With this in mind, I’d like to take a moment to remind you of the many educational resources that are available to you as an ASPR member to help you advance your career in the field of in-house physician recruitment and to be a valuable resource in your organization.

ASPR members enjoy easy access to high-quality educational programs such as our annual conference, fellowship certification program, free webinars, and online resource library. Whether you are new to the field or a seasoned professional, our educational resources will give you an edge on physician recruitment and retention.

ASPR Annual Conference

The ASPR annual conference offers cutting-edge information that is crucial to recruiting and retaining physicians in today’s competitive market. You’ll have the opportunity to network with colleagues across the nation, attend sessions with dynamic and informative speakers, and discover new tools that will help you do your job more effectively.

The 2012 ASPR Annual Conference will be held August 11-15 at the JW Marriott at LA Live in Los Angeles, CA. As you plan your upcoming travel itinerary, please keep in mind that the Physician Recruitment 201 Module will be offered on Saturday, August 11, the Physician Recruitment 101 and 301 Modules will be offered on Sunday, August 12 and the main conference will be held Monday through Wednesday with the programs wrapping up by noon on Wednesday.

Registration for the 2012 ASPR Annual Conference is now open! Visit the Web site for details on the educational sessions, speakers, and events!

Free monthly webinars

Another educational opportunity that every ASPR member should take advantage of is the free monthly webinar series. The ASPR monthly webinar series provides you with education from experts on best practices, trends, effective solutions, and quality resources. If you can’t attend the live webinars, you can view them on demand at any time. More details can be found in the Education section of the ASPR Web site, www.aspr.org.

Fellowship Certification Program

Becoming certified as a Fellow of ASPR (FASPR) demonstrates that you have a commitment to continuing education and excellence in the discipline of physician recruitment. ASPR has now made it easier than ever to access the Fellowship Certification program!

As always, all three fellowship modules will be offered at the annual conference in Los Angeles. However, if you are unable to attend this year, you can take advantage of the Physician Recruitment 101 Module as a webinar series at any time.

The Physician Recruitment 201 and 301 Modules will be available for self-study later this year. You may purchase the presentations, supporting documents, and resource guides to learn all of the relevant information and prepare yourself for the exams. The webinar series and self-study opportunities are great ways to advance through the ASPR Fellowship Certification Program without spending time out of the office.

ASPR Resource Library

The ASPR Resource Library is a treasure trove of sample policies, procedures, letters, forms, and presentations submitted by ASPR members. Resources on topics such as onboarding and retention programs, sourcing and advertising strategies, candidate screening, immigration, relocation, and benchmarking are among the many that you’ll find accessible at your fingertips. Many new additions have been made to the ASPR Resource Library in recent weeks, so take a moment to pop in and peruse! Thank you to all of you who have made contributions to the library!

As always, I look forward to hearing any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, or comments from you!
