AIR Hosts Educational Meeting

ASPR Chapter Updates

Lisa Anastos, executive vice president for clinical practice and business development at the University of Chicago Medical Center, presented at the AIR Educational Meeting in Los Angeles on August 13. With her vibrant personality and in-depth knowledge of academic settings, compensation models, and healthcare challenges, Anastos delivered an informative presentation entitled “21st Century Financial Models.” She shared statistics from various academic settings and reviewed the changes taking place in academic financial models due to the recent changes in health care models including integrative delivery systems, medical home models, pay for performance, ACOs, etc. Anastos emphasized that the perfect physicians to recruit are those who are open to change, are collaborative, are focused on prevention/wellness, willingly embrace IT, and are patient centered.

The AIR Business meeting followed Anastos’ presentation. Frank Gallagher, AIR president, shared AIR’s accomplishments in 2012 and reviewed goals for 2013. Service awards were distributed to Kate Rader, Michelle Seifert, Lauren Forst, and Frank Gallagher as outgoing officers. The new leadership team of Clara Irizarry, president, Emerson Moses, vice president, Donna Ecclestone, secretary, and Jennifer Kambies, treasurer was unanimously approved by members. Check the AIR website for upcoming events.
