ASPR Treasurer Position Description

Function: Administrative
Role: Treasurer
Responsibilities: Fiscal Organization and Responsibility

Position Purpose/Charter

The Treasurer works with the CEO and AMC to manage the finances of the organization. The Treasurer assists in the administration of fiscal matters, including but not limited to annual budget approval as well as the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Board of Directors and the ASPR membership; communication line to President

Term

Initial two year term, may be elected for up to two additional consecutive terms

Responsibilities/Duties/Expectations

Ensures the fiscal stability of the organization through prudent management and oversight of all financial transactions, processes, and policies.  Collaborates with Board members on the annual budgetary requirements of each area.  Obtains appropriate review and approval of financial functions from the ED and Board of Directors.  

Financials:

Manages all financial transactions and resources including report generation and dissemination, review and secures appropriate approvals.
Treasurer, ED & AMC

Reviews business plans and approves expenditures for project development.
Treasurer

Budget:

Complete oversight of the budget process.  Facilitates annual budget development and coordination with aligned leaders. Provides final recommendation to the Board.

Monitors monthly budget reports including report generation and dissemination, review, and appropriate approvals.

Policy:

Advises Governance VP on relevant financial policies and controls in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Audit:

Initiates and manages the audit process.

Provides oversight of financial vendor relationships.

Investments:

Responsible for all aspects of investment management including report generation and dissemination, review, and appropriate approvals.

General Responsibilities of all Board Members:

Adheres to all ASPR bylaws, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Prepares for all Board and Leadership meetings by thoroughly reviewing relevant materials in advance.

Available to travel to Board and Leadership meetings as well as the Annual Conferences as required (including weekends).


Qualifications

Required:

  • ASPR member in good standing within the Individual membership category 
  • Active committee participation for the 12 months prior to the “Call for Nomination” date
  • ASPR member for a minimum of 3 years
  • Experience with organizational budgeting processes and financial management.
  • Eligible to be bonded.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of financial investment management
  • Knowledgeable of accounting standards
  • Fellowship certification
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Served as a Board member or Committee Chair of ASPR or one of its Chapters
