ASPR VP of Education Position Description

Function: Strategic & Operations
Role: VP of Education
Responsibilities: Oversight of educational content and programs

Position Purpose/Charter

The Member At-Large provides governance to the organization as a voting member of the board, acts as a representative for the overall ASPR membership, and accepts ultimate legal authority for the organization. Four Member At-Large positions exist as members of the board.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Board of Directors and the ASPR membership; communication line to President Elect


Initial two year term, may be elected for up to two additional consecutive terms


Responsible for implementation of the strategic plan as it relates to educational content and programs through the guidance of committee work and AMC staff.  Provides budget recommendations to the Board. Obtains appropriate review and approval of Education activities from the President Elect and Board of Directors.                     


Manages staff and collaborates with committees to achieve desired outcomes.

Directs committee activities as appropriate for project development and implementation.

Ensures timely completion of committee initiatives and projects.
VP & Chairs

Provides oversight to ensure committee decisions align with the best interests and strategic vision of the organization. 

Completes annual goals as identified and prioritized by leadership.
VP & Chairs

Annual Conference:

Directs the development and implementation of the Annual Conference.
VP, ED, Chairs

Directs the development of Annual Conference sponsorship opportunities.

Fellowship Program:

Directs the development and implementation of fellowship program.
VP & Chairs

Maintains appropriate testing standards.
VP & Chairs


Directs the development and implementation of webinars.
VP & Chairs

Directs the development webinar sponsorship opportunities.


Directs the development and implementation of journal editorial content and recommends vehicle for distribution.
VP & Chairs

Directs the development of advertising opportunities.

General Responsibilities of all Board Members:

Adheres to all ASPR bylaws, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Prepares for all Board and Leadership meetings by thoroughly reviewing relevant materials in advance.

Available to travel to Board and Leadership meetings as well as the Annual Conferences as required (including weekends).



  • ASPR member in good standing within the Individual membership category 
  • Active committee participation for the 12 months prior to the “Call for Nomination” date
  • ASPR member for a minimum of 3 years
  • Experience planning educational programs such as conferences, webinars, etc.
  • Fellowship certification


  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Served as a Board member or Committee Chair of ASPR or one of its Chapters
  • Active membership of the ASPR Education, Fellowship, or Journal Committee
