New ASPR Chapter: Onboarding and Retention (OAR)
Many of our ASPR members belong to organizations that are formalizing onboarding and retention efforts, and are realizing a need for resources and best practices. Over the last 18 months, several ASPR members have been working behind the scenes to establish an official ASPR chapter for Onboarding and Retention Network (OAR). OAR membership is open to any ASPR member in good standing involved in onboarding and retaining their organization’s physicians.
According to OAR, provider onboarding is the comprehensive system by which newly recruited providers are fully integrated into a healthcare organization, its culture and the local community. An effective onboarding program will help create a warm, welcoming, and inviting start for a new provider to your organization and will set the stage for retention.
It is an exciting time to be networking among peers, formulating best practices, gaining ideas and new-found knowledge to incorporate into an organization’s onboarding efforts. Nearly 100 members of ASPR have shown an interest in OAR, and we hope to encourage all of them to become active members in the near future. The OAR website was launched in November: www.onboardretainhealthpros.org . OAR now has a member-only list serve, monthly conference calls, educational webinars and plans to convene at the ASPR annual conference.
OAR recently elected officers: Kate Rader, president, UT Southwestern Medical Center; Donna Ecclestone, FASPR, vice-president, Duke Medicine; Miranda Grace, DASPR, secretary, Lewistown Hospital; and Ashley Pace, treasurer, Carolinas HealthCare System. For additional information, please contact Kate Rader at email@example.com.
Interested ASPR members can join OAR on the OAR website or in the Member Resources section on the ASPR website.
