ASPR VP of Engagement Position Description

Function: Strategic & Operations
Role: VP of Engagement
Responsibilities Oversight of ASPR communications

Position Purpose/Charter:

The Member At-Large provides governance to the organization as a voting member of the board, acts as a representative for the overall ASPR membership, and accepts ultimate legal authority for the organization. Four Member At-Large positions exist as members of the board.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Board of Directors and the ASPR membership; communication line to President Elect


Initial two year term, may be elected for up to two additional consecutive terms


Responsible for implementation of the strategic plan as it relates to marketing and branding activities through the guidance of committee work and AMC staff. Provides budget recommendations to the Board. Obtains appropriate review and approval of Marketing activities from the ED, President Elect and Board of Directors.          


Manages staff and collaborates with committees to achieve desired outcomes.

Directs committee activities as appropriate for project development and implementation.

Ensures timely completion of committee initiatives and projects.
VP & Chairs

Provides oversight to ensure committee decisions align with the best interests and strategic vision of the organization. 

Completes annual goals as identified and prioritized by leadership.

Directs the coordination of all activities related to the ASPR website including content management, recommended updates, and analytic reviews. 
VP, ED, & Chairs


Directs the development of marketing strategies, projects, programs, and mediums to align with organizational initiatives.

Approves content for ASPR messaging and branding.

Makes recommendations for marketing mediums and programs.

Coordinates response to all media requests.
VP, President & ED


Directs the development of membership growth and retention initiatives.
VP & Chairs

Oversees application of membership eligibility criteria and recommends revisions as appropriate.
VP & Chairs

Oversees strategic development and maintenance of Chapters.
VP & Chairs

Oversees strategic communication with regional groups.
VP & Chairs

General Responsibilities of all Board Members:

Adheres to all ASPR bylaws, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Prepares for all Board and Leadership meetings by thoroughly reviewing relevant materials in advance

Available to travel to Board and Leadership meetings as well as the Annual Conferences as required (including weekends).



  • ASPR member in good standing within the Individual membership category 
  • Active committee participation for the 12 months prior to the “Call for Nomination” date
  • ASPR member for a minimum of 3 years
  • Experience leading marketing and branding initiatives


  • Knowledge of social media and other electronic communication platforms
  • Understanding of website design, search engine optimization, and website analytics
  • Fellowship certification
  • Served as a Board member or Committee Chair of ASPR or one of its Chapters
