Share |

The ASPR Education Committee has developed an incredible line-up of educational content for the 2014 ASPR Annual Conference, which will be held August 23-27 at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis in Minneapolis, Minn. The recently renovated Hyatt is located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis on Nicollet Mall. The hotel is within walking distance of shopping, dining and popular attractions like Target Field, Walker Art Center and Loring Park. It offers many guest amenities including a full service business center, an indoor heated pool and access to the StayFit Athletic Club.

ASPR’s annual conference is attended by hundreds of in-house physician recruitment professionals from across the US and Canada. It is an opportunity to receive cutting-edge information critical to your success with physician recruitment, retention and onboarding. As you strive to meet the challenges and opportunities of the evolving health care environment, your informational needs are greater than ever before. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to network with colleagues from across the country.

Keynote speakers
The 2014 ASPR Annual Conference will kick off Monday with keynote speaker, David Horsager, M.A., CSP, who will present “The Trust Edge: What Top Leaders Have and 8 Pillars to Build it Yourself.” Through academic research and firsthand experience, Horsager learned what it takes to gain – and keep – “The Trust Edge.” During his captivating presentation, Horsager will combine humor and illustrations with business insight and analysis. He will demonstrate how the little things, done consistently, add up to huge results. You will walk away with concrete steps you can use immediately to improve your lives and careers.

Our second keynote speaker, Joe Flower, is scheduled for Wednesday morning. “Where We Are Headed: Notes from the Future - The Physician in the Next Health Care” will look far beyond the narrow confines of the Affordable Care Act at what is driving change in health care. Flower will explore the real economics of the health care market, the radical shift in revenue streams and the impending price crash. He will connect those driving forces to the shifting state of the market for physicians, so that we can consider how we may need to shift our strategies, alliances, capacities and workflows for the future.

Breakout presentations
This year, ASPR will offer 20 breakout sessions across three diverse learning tracks, allowing conference attendees to specifically target topics of greatest interest. Sessions are available for all levels of experience. Whether you are new to the field or a seasoned professional, there is something for everyone!

The Marketing and Sourcing learning track will provide insight into aligning your organization strategically, creating a multi-media sourcing campaign, hiring foreign medical graduates, building relationships with residency programs, understanding shortage and underserved medical areas and recruiting in rural locations.

The Adding Value: Other Duties as Assigned learning track covers other roles and responsibilities that many in-house physician recruiters must take on in addition to their recruitment responsibilities. Topics will include dealing with conflict and confrontation, coaching physicians to prepare for candidate interviews, managing locum tenens staffing, leadership development for physician recruitment professionals as well as other sessions focused on coordinating the multiple roles that recruiters juggle like onboarding and retention.

The Trends in Health Care learning track will focus on current and future trends in health care. Speakers will discuss how to apply LEAN principles to physician recruitment, the impact of the Affordable Care Act on the health care workforce and physician recruiting, physician competencies for the next generation of health care delivery, the expanding role of nurse practitioners and physician assistants and more.

In grand fashion, we will be taking over two of the three levels at Seven – the Sushi Bar and Ultralounge, and the rooftop Skybar. Dine on a variety of hors d’oeuvres, sushi and a pasta stir-fry and quench your thirst with a refreshing cocktail. Whether you decide to stay inside in the cozy seating of the Ultralounge, or you head to the rooftop bar to bask in the glow of the city and enjoy a magnificent view, you’ll feel like a VIP!

The evening event wouldn’t be complete without dancing and this year will be no exception. We’ll have a DJ spinning tunes all night to keep your toes tapping.

The Monday evening event is a great way to mingle with colleagues, sponsors and exhibitors. Relax, dance, eat, network and have a great time!
