It probably doesn’t matter where you live; it was a long, cold winter! I think we were all ready for warmer weather and sunshine! From the snow, ice, freezing rain and blustery winds to the 50 foot snowman built by a farmer in St. Cloud, MN, I think we all had enough. For my fellow runners, it was a tough training season for our spring races…but that dedication and perseverance will hopefully pay off!
Speaking of dedication and perseverance – I’d like to thank all of our volunteers for the time and effort they put into numerous ASPR projects and initiatives. National Volunteer Week was celebrated April 6-13 and we recognized approximately 80 member volunteers for their contributions to our organization. From our committee members and co-chairs to our board of directors, thank you for all that you do!
The collective efforts of our volunteers and a small staff have resulted in ASPR’s largest membership ever! We recently reached a membership of 1,389 members and we continue to grow! It’s exciting to be a part of such a thriving professional organization; an organization that provides education, networking and resources to so many in-house physician recruiters who are all helping to meet the medical needs of people across the country!
ne of the most important accomplishments that an in-house physician recruitment professional can achieve is to obtain their Certification as a Fellow of ASPR (FASPR). Approximately 157 current ASPR members have achieved this elite certification and we’d love to see that number grow. FASPR Certification demonstrates to your leadership and your colleagues that you are an expert in our field and in our industry. In the past, the only way you could attend the fellowship courses was to attend them live at the ASPR Annual Conference, but now you can access all three fellowship modules via on demand webinars! Learn more about ASPR Fellowship Certification and take the next step toward completing your Certification.
Of course, ASPR’s biggest event of the year – and an excellent source of education for you and your team – is the ASPR Annual Conference. The ASPR Education Committee has finalized the keynote and learning track session presentations for the 2014 ASPR Annual Conference which will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, MN August 23-27. Conference Registration is now open so sign up today so you’ll be there to learn about current trends, hot topics, and the nuts and bolts of physician recruitment, onboarding and retention. Learn more about this year’s conference in this issue of JASPR and don’t forget to use the Conference Justification Letter to help you present your case to your management on how you will personally benefit from attending this year’s conference. There truly is something for everyone regardless of your level of experience. Let’s just hope that 50 foot snowman is not still standing by August!
As always, I look forward to hearing any thoughts, suggestions, ideas or comments from you!
