The 2016 ASPR Annual Conference, held in New Orleans, LA., was a great success! More than 550 attendees and over 290 exhibitors were present at this year’s conference for a record breaking year. Thank you to all who attended and supported this event!
The conference kicked off with the ASPR Fellowship Programs. The Physician Recruitment 101, 201 and 301 modules were offered Saturday and Sunday prior to the conference. These modules, and subsequent exams, lead members to become certified as Fellows of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (FASPR).
Monday morning began with ASPR’s first 5k (over 90 participated!) and with keynote presenter Lt. General Russel L. Honore, who delivered a message on The New Normal: Leadership and Preparedness in the 21st Century. The Monday breakout sessions were amazing.
After a day filled with educational content, everyone enjoyed a fun-filled social event at Generations Hall. Attendees enjoyed the selfie booth, live jazz band, dancing and chatting with friends in the historic venue and eating a great selection of dining cuisine.
Tuesday morning began with Seth Mattison’s presentation, Relationship Revolution—Building Better Connections in the Digital Age.
Tuesday also included the ASPR Annual Business Meeting where Laura Screeney, FASPR, ASPR President, provided members with key highlights on programs and activities accomplished by the ASPR Board of Directors and Committees. Board members, committee co-chairs and committee members were recognized for their hard work and dedication. ASPR also reviewed several key strategic planning updates and bylaws revisions.
The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Suzanne Anderson, FASPR and Judy Brown, FASPR. Suzanne and Judy were honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award for their hard work and contributions to ASPR.
The ASPR Chapters each held business meetings over the course of the annual conference. Academic In-house Recruiters (AIR), Onboarding and Retention (OAR), the Northwest Staff Physician Recruiters (NWSPR), the Southeast Physician Recruiters Association (SEPRA) and the Texas Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (TexASPR) all conducted productive meetings.
