St. Paul, MN, May 6, 2013 — Hospitals and healthcare organizations across the country are constantly seeking effective physician recruitment and retention strategies in order to adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment. The Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) annual conference to be held August 10–14 in Tucson, AZ, will provide education exclusively for in-house physician recruitment professionals, as well as healthcare executives and others involved with recruitment, onboarding and retention responsibilities.

“The conference offers a unique opportunity for in-house physician recruiters to meet with and learn from industry experts,” says Jennifer Metivier, MS, FASPR, executive director of ASPR. “In addition to a great lineup of keynote speakers, we offer 21 breakout sessions, representing three diverse learning tracks that will allow conference attendees to specifically target topics that are of most interest to them.”

Conference topics highlight current and upcoming healthcare trends, as well as effective recruitment, onboarding and retention strategies. Leading experts will speak on issues such as hospital-physician alignment models, physician coaching, physician compensation models, medical staff development planning and immigration. The ASPR Fellowship Certification program will also be offered at the conference.

Keynote speakers include Mark Scharenbroich, CSP, CPAE, who will present “Nice Bike,” which focuses on recognizing people to improve employee and team performance; and M. Tray Dunaway, MD, FACS, a general surgeon by training, who will present “Connecting the Dots of Healthcare: Better Healthcare through Mutuality.” The final keynote speaker will be M. Shane Foreman, principal and founder of 3d Health. He will present “Physician Recruitment in a Post-Reform Era,” which will call for a different type of physician, a more sophisticated physician recruitment process, and physician recruiters with new and different skill sets.

“The conference offers targeted education for healthcare organizations on innovative techniques for attracting and retaining physicians in today’s competitive environment,” says Metivier. “Our learning programs focus on practical solutions and case studies.” For more information and to register for the conference, please visit our website.
