Suzanne Anderson, Duke University Medical Center

Suzanne Anderson is Associate Director of Medical Staff Recruitment at Duke Medicine. Originally from Ohio, Suzanne received her BS in Marketing from The Ohio State University. Suzanne has worked in the physician recruitment and staffing industry since 1984. Her experience spans multiple venues including locum tenens, contract management, and several business start-ups including building her own hybrid recruitment consulting firm which she ran for over a decade. Suzanne joined Duke in 2006 and enjoys the opportunities and challenges that come with recruiting for a large academic medical center. Suzanne has been a member of ASPR since 2009. She is a Fellow of ASPR and Project Lead on the Benchmarking Survey.

Robert Aronson, Aronson & Associates, P.A.

Robert D. Aronson is the Managing Attorney at Aronson & Associates, P.A. His practice focuses on International Physicians, biomedical researchers, and healthcare workers. He served as Immigration Legal Advisor for the Council of Graduate Medical Education (COGME), the advisory body to the Secretary of HHS on U.S. healthcare policy. Mr. Aronson is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law and was a Fulbright Fellow at the law schools of Harvard University and Moscow State University.

Christine Bourbeau is the Director of Physician Recruitment at St Francis Hospital & Medical Center, in Hartford, CT. She has over 30 years of experience working in the healthcare marketplace. For the past 20 years she has successfully recruited healthcare professionals for Connecticut area hospitals. Christine has also been instrumental in the development of in-house recruitment and liaison programs.
As a former member on the Board of Directors for ASPR she has been instrumental in the development and growth of the organization and has acted as the co-chairperson for their Educational Committee. Christine is also the founder and President of the Northeast Physician Recruiters Association now in its 11th year of existence.
Christine is a Fellow of ASPR (FASPR), which exemplifies commitment to continuing education and excellence in the discipline of physician recruitment.

Marjorie Creagh, Lake Health

Marjorie Vermeulen-Creagh is the Director of Physician Recruitment for American Hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For 12 years she worked in Ohio as Manager of Physician Recruitment starting the recruitment department from scratch. Marjorie is an ASPR Fellow and part of ASPR’s Fellowship Committee. She is a Recertified Medical Staff Recruiter, a Corporate Compliance Professional and a Certified LEAN Recruiter.

Marjorie has a Bachelor’s Degree from Malone College and is pursuing a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration.

Betty Davis, MD, CMO, Banner Health

Donna Ecclestone, Duke Medicine

Donna Ecclestone, is Assistant Director of Physician Integration at Duke Medicine. A national speaker and content expert on physician onboarding, Donna is responsible for streamlining and standardizing the onboarding initiatives across Duke’s faculty group practice. Duke is one of the few academic medical centers with a staff dedicated to onboarding physicians. Duke welcomes 100-120 new physicians a year across 13 departments.

Donna started her career at Duke in 1997 as a staff recruiter for the Office of Medical Staff Recruitment. In 2001 she was promoted to Assistant Director, managing a staff of five in-house recruiters. Donna holds a Bachelors in Business Marketing and Management and has seventeen years of recruitment experience in both the in-house and contingency arenas. She has been an ASPR member for 9 years and has served ASPR on both the benchmarking and fellowship committees. A founding member of the Academic In-House Recruiter Chapter, Donna has been actively involved with the growth of AIR during the past several years, she served as the group’s first President, Secretary, and is again the current President. She is also integrally involved with OAR one of ASPR’s Chapters focused on onboarding and retention initiatives. Donna is the current Secretary on the ASPR Board of Directors and a certified Fellow of ASPR.

Tiffany Evans, Aultman Hospital

Tiffany Evans is Director of Physician Recruitment and Relations at Aultman Hospital, a 670-bed facility in Canton, OH. A dietitian by training, she became a recruiter in 2011 while nearing the completion of her Master’s degree in organizational leadership. She has been tasked with many responsibilities in her role, including medical staff development planning for select hospital-owned practices. She proves her value to the organization by seeing the manpower planning through from beginning to end — and she is excited to show how it can be more easily accomplished than what one may expect.

Mills Fleming, HunterMaclean

Mills Fleming chairs HunterMaclean’s health care law practice group and has particular expertise in Stark law compliance, physician recruiting and employment and fraud and abuse compliance. Mills is a past president of the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys and a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the health law section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Mills is included in the most recent editions of The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA and received an “AV-Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubble. He has also been recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine as a “Legal Elite”.  He writes and speaks frequently on health care law issues and is co-editor of the Georgia Hospital Association’s Hospital Law Manual (5th edition). He also published an article on the final HIPAA privacy rules for the American Bar Association’s American Law Institute and authored the chapter “New Government Scrutiny Demands New Strategies for Health Care Clients” for the book Health Care Law Enforcement and Compliance. He is currently co-authoring a “Member Briefing” paper for the American Health Lawyers Association on IRC §501(r), enacted as part of the Affordable Care Act, which requires 501(c)(3) hospitals to conduct a community health needs assessment (CHNA) every three years for each hospital facility operated, and to adopt an implementation strategy to address the community health needs thus identified. The article will be published later this year.

Mills graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in 1986 and a J.D. in 1989. He began his legal career at HunterMaclean, served for three years as general counsel with a large hospital system, and returned to HunterMaclean in 1995.

Bill Friedrich, M3 Global Research

Bill Friedrich has been in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 30 years, most of it in market research at three pharmaceutical companies. He is a microbiologist by training, transferred into Marketing Research early in his career, and joined the ranks of market research consultant companies in 2010. He has been at M3 Global research for two years. He has led research support for Brand teams in many disease areas. Given that breadth of coverage, there are few medical or surgeon specialties he hasn’t observed or interviewed in research settings.

Jeannie Green, Mayo Clinic

Mike Griffin, Sound Physicians

Michael Griffin is Physician Recruiter with Sound Physicians which employs more than 2,000 Hospitalists, Intensivists, Post-Acute physicians, and Nurse Practitioners providing inpatient care to more than 200 programs in 35 states. He has a successful 29 year track record in healthcare human resources and physician recruitment. Michael has developed and managed multiple recruitment departments for health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers and managed care entities. Michael is a Past President of ASPR, has been a member since 1991 serving on the board of directors for 8 years. He has held positions on the website, education, marketing, and currently co- chairs the ASPR Fellowship Committee. His educational background includes a Masters in Health Services Administration. He is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and has been a regular presenter in the ASPR Fellowship Program. Notable accomplishments include recruiting more than 70 physicians in a year and 800+ in a career including all specialties, Medical Directors, Department Chiefs and Healthcare Executives.

Danny Gutknecht, Pathways

Danny Gutknecht, CEO of Pathways and author of the forthcoming book Essence: The Secret to Engagement & Innovation, has spent decades on his own journey as a CEO, uncovering the hidden infrastructure of cultures and building models that drive engagement, innovation and growth. Danny developed a methodology called Essence Mining® that enables organizations to understand the essence that drives their culture and how to use it. He has worked with start-ups and global giants like BE Aerospace, Expedia, Fairview Health Services and the University of Michigan, helping them understand their essence and re-engineer communication to spark innovative new ways of recruiting.

Aaron Hooks, Mayo Clinic

Aaron Hooks has been a Recruiter for NPs and PAs at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, since January 2011. As part of his role, he spearheaded efforts to integrate NP and PA recruitment with the Mayo Clinic Health System sites and managed the NP and PA Program recruitment plan. Beginning in June 2014, he joined the Physician Recruitment team, and now splits his assignment between recruitment of Advanced Practice Providers and Physicians. Aaron received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2003 and holds his PHR Certification from the HRCI.

Marci Jackson, Marshfield Clinic

Marci Jackson, FASPR, is currently the Physician Recruitment Manager at Marshfield Clinic, a 770+ physician multispecialty group in Marshfield, Wisconsin. During over 20 years in physician recruitment, Marci has had experience as the director of Physician and Provider Recruitment and Retention at Southwest Medical Associates in Nevada, as a physician recruiter and manager at Duluth Clinic in Duluth, Minnesota, and as a physician recruiter at Monroe Clinic in Monroe, WI. Marci has served as member at large on the Board of Directors, as well as treasurer, vice-president and president of ASPR. She is currently co-chair of the Fellowship Program Committee, has served on the Education Committee since 1995, and presents annually at the Fellowship program.

Dennis Jolley, University of Utah Health Care

Dennis Jolley is the Senior Director of Marketing at University of Utah Health Care. Dennis' skills include marketing communications, business strategy and market development. He believes in the use of quality data analytics, operational strategy, and new media/social media to reach target audiences. He is active in the healthcare marketing community and speaks and consults on a range of topics including business strategy, market differentiation & strategy, brand development, and reputation management.

Scott Lindblom, SSM Health Care

With over 27 years of experience in medical staff recruitment, retention and relations, Scott Lindblom oversees the physician and provider recruitment for the SSM Health Care System. Scott previously served as Dean Clinic’s Director of Medical Staff Services from 1990 to 2014. Scott led the implementation and development of two successful in-house physician recruitment programs based at Fairview Hospital and Healthcare Services and Dean Clinic. Scott is a FASPR and an active member of ASPR. Scott received a BA in Business Administration and is a graduate of the Program in Hospital Administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

Scott Manning, District Medical Group (DMG)

Scott Manning is a self-described “hybrid” who has 20+ years’ experience in both Human Resources and Physician Recruiting. He currently holds the position of Director of Human Resources and Provider Recruiting for District Medical Group (DMG) which is one of the largest physician groups in Phoenix, Arizona.

He has achieved lifetime certification as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) thru the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). Scott completed his certification as a Fellow of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (FASPR) in the inaugural class of 2010.

Scott has been elected to multiple leadership roles relating to both his areas of expertise. He has been elected to multiple terms on the Board of Directors of two Phoenix based SHRM Chapters and the SHRM Arizona State Council. This was highlighted by two terms as President of the East Valley Human Resources Association. He is a charter member of ASPR and has been a member of the ASPR Board of Directors since 2007 serving two year terms each as Treasurer, President Elect, and President.

Aaron Paul, LocumsMart

Aaron Paul is co-founder and CEO of LocumsMart, a provider of free, web-based software solutions to the healthcare staffing industry. Aaron has spent the past decade in various roles at companies covering multiple facets of healthcare delivery. Notable is his time as Education Program Manager and National Accounts Manager at Medical Doctor Associates, one of the largest healthcare staffing companies in the U.S., as well as the time he spent as the Director of Business Development for PracticeAdmin, a web-based medical billing and practice management software company. Aaron’s passion is moving healthcare from the analog to the digital world.

Lynne Peterson, Fairview Health Services

Lynne Peterson is the Director of Physician Recruitment for Fairview Health Services an integrated health system located in Minnesota. Lynne and her team also work closely with Fairview’s academic partner, the University of Minnesota, assisting the University with their recruitment needs for Advance Practice Providers and Fairview related Academic Physician positions. Lynne has been in the Physician Recruitment industry since 1991 and joined the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters in 1995. During Lynne’s time as a member of ASPR, she has been involved in various aspects of the organization; including the development of ASPR’s Fellowship program. Lynne earned her FASPR certification in 2010 and she is now currently the Co-Chair of the Fellowship Committee.

Debra Pickup, Abeille Consulting Group

Debra is a results oriented Healthcare Human Resource leader specializing in talent management and leadership coaching.  She is the Principal of Abeille Consulting Group and also a  Consultant at Barlow/McCarthy.  Debbie has developed and manage remote recruitment teams, provided  team and client training based on best practices and recruitment competency model. In her former role of Director, Physician Recruitment and Human Resources, Debbie developed the infrastructure for the Physician Recruitment department and coached numerous interview teams related to all aspects of the search process including defining key job requirements and competencies, behavioral-based interviewing  and candidate evaluation.

Kurt Scott, VISTA Staffing Solutions

Kurt Scott joined VISTA Staffing Solutions with 20 years of physician recruitment experience, including more than a decade of leadership at Geisinger Health System, where he grew his team from 2 to 7, tripled the annual number of new hires, and placed over 100 physician executives. Since 2005, Kurt has developed and led the VISTA permanent physician and physician executive search division, which has grown to 16 employees and nearly $2 million in revenue. Kurt is a former president of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR), and his in-house physician recruitment expertise has been featured in several industry publications.

Laura Screeney, North Shore-LIJ Health System

Laura has been a leader in the in-house Physician Recruitment industry for over 25 years.

Laura joined the North Shore- LIJ Health System in May 2010 to develop an in-house Physician Recruitment Program to support 19 hospitals, 400 ambulatory sites and the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. As Corporate Director of Physician Recruitment, Laura leads a team of four professionals, who are responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of the medical group’s employed physicians.

Prior to NS-LIJ, Laura was responsible for the development and direction of in-house Physician Recruitment programs for healthcare organizations from coast to coast: HIP Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente, Lifetime Health Medical Group, Atlantic Health System, the Alaska Native Medical Center and the US Army at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

As a charter member of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters ( ), and a charter Fellow of ASPR (FASPR), Laura has played an integral role in the organization’s development and growth. As current ASPR President-elect, Laura is actively involved in a number of ongoing industry initiatives.

Greg Stewart, PhD, LPC, Profiles International

Greg Stewart is the Organization Development Strategist for Profiles International. He has worked with Profiles for 5 years. He holds a BA in Organizational Leadership and a PhD in Counseling. His dissertation was “The Relationship of Emotional Intelligence with Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment.” He is a certified Eq-i 2.0 administrator and is also certified with DDI (Development Dimensions International) in building competency models for organizations. He has led, as well as served as the executive administrator for large non-profit organizations. In the non-profit sector, he learned how to change systems from the inside, creating and sustaining change through interpersonal influence, teaching, training, and networking. Greg understands how the culture of organizations impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of how an organization executes its strategic initiatives. He helps organizations build strategy. He has worked with different industries, different sizes of organizations, and a countless variety of individuals. He has coached at all levels in the organization so he is able to help organizations with training and development programs and succession planning processes. As an adjunct professor, he has taught several courses in management and leadership, bringing an understanding of theoretical underpinnings balanced with a solid approach to application and implementation. He is known for understanding systems, networking with people to create synergy within the organization, and is gifted at making the complex simple. Greg has deep insight into organizational and leadership development and is a phenomenal speaker, trainer, and coach.

Jim Stone, The Medicus Firm

Jim Stone is the President and co-owner of The Medicus Firm. He has worked in physician search since 1995. Mr. Stone is also President of the National Association of Physician Recruiters (NAPR). Additionally, Mr. Stone was founder and managing partner of Executech in Dallas, TX, and Los Angeles. He is well-versed on recruiting trends including the impact of health reform and physician shortages. He's given numerous presentations on these topics and has been featured on FoxNews as guest expert, and in Modern Healthcare, HealthLeaders, Medical Economics, American Medical News, and the Dallas Business Journal.

Andrew Thompson, Provider Compensation Solutions, LLC

Andrew Thompson is a seasoned Physician Practice executive with over 17 years of healthcare experience. He has worked in all aspects of physician practices, including day-to-day operations, finance and currently is the Chief Operating Officer of a large integrated physician practice. In his current role he oversees a fully integrated medical practice including 18 specialties, 125 physicians and 45 midlevel providers. He additionally provides consulting assistance to clients for provider compensation plan development, implementation and ongoing administration. His prior experience includes physician practice consulting for BKD, LLP where he assisted hospitals, practices and health systems in physician practice improvements in revenue cycle, practice operations, coding and physician compensation plan development. Andrew continues to enjoy speaking engagements at local, regional and national conferences and is available both for additional engagements as well as consulting opportunities.

Therese Valadez, CHRO, Banner Health and

Therese Valadez has served as CHRO at Banner Health since 2011. She is accountable for providing leadership, direction, and administration of day-to-day Human Resource related activities for Banner Medical Group AZ West. She previously served as a member of the executive leadership team ensuring optimal operating effectiveness and strategic positioning at American Express as VP of Workforce Transformation, 2010-2011. Therese served as American Express VP of Human Resources, 2006-2010.

Michael Walsh, Harger Howe Advertising

Mike Walsh has worked in the advertising and recruiting arena for his entire career. Mike opened the Boston office of Harger Howe Advertising in 2003 and now serves as the agency’s President and CEO. Harger Howe handles physician marketing for such recognized brands as Harvard Medical School, Elliot Health System, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. This presentation will focus on the importance of developing and promoting a physician recruitment microsite as the central hub. Mike will also present a case study on the success of the Elliot Health System in New Hampshire as it transitioned away from a model utilizing retained search to an institutional commitment to building a new physician recruitment brand identity.

Barbara Warstler, University Hospitals, Cleveland

Ms. Warstler joined University Hospitals in 2007 as the Manager of the Medical Staff Office. In 2010, she was promoted to Director of Medical Staff Services and Credentialing when the Medical Staff Office merged with the Credentialing Department. Under Ms. Warstler’s leadership, UH Medical Staff Services and Credentialing Department has centralized from disparate, hospital medical staff offices to a system-wide corporate department that serves as the source of practitioner data for the health system, feeding such systems as the intranet, internet, electronic medical record and billing computer systems. Because of this integration, Ms. Warstler was able to remove over 25% of redundant expenses from the department’s operating budget in one year. Ms. Warstler has served as the Project Sponsor for two system-wide computer integrations and a credentialing software upgrade. The department transitioned to working paperlessly and a system-wide reappointment cycle in 2011-12 under her leadership. As Director, she has led the integration efforts for five new hospital medical staffs into the system. Ms. Warstler developed a career ladder program for the department to encourage employee development and developed a student intern program with Health Care Administration students from the University of Toledo to increase awareness of our profession. In 2014, the department earned a perfect score during its National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Central Verification Organization survey. Ms. Warstler completed a Fellowship in Medical Staff Development and earned her Certification as a Physician Recruiter through the American Academy of Medical Management, is a FASPR in the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters and also maintains her Certified Professional Medical Services Management status through the National Association Medical Staff Services. She is also certified in Lean-Six Sigma. Ms. Warstler volunteers her time in the Akron/Canton area helping a variety of non-profit organizations.

Karen Weinstock, Weinstock Immigration Lawyers

Karen Weinstock is the managing attorney of Weinstock Immigration Lawyers. She specializes in solving complex immigration problems and provides case strategy and management for organizations and individuals. Prior to opening her own immigration law firm, Karen was the managing attorney of Siskind Susser Immigration Lawyers’ Atlanta office from 2002 until 2013. Before then, Karen managed a solo law practice in New York City, serving international corporate clientele conducting business in the U.S. or moving to the U.S. for the first time. Karen has over 15 years of experience as an attorney, and has practiced immigration law exclusively for over 12 years. Her prior corporate law experience and business acumen enable her to better serve the particular needs of multinational corporations, organizations and investors. She is the author and editor of The H-1B Book, published by Immigration Law Weekly, and is a speaker on immigration law topics at conferences around the world, in publications and general media. Karen is originally from Israel and immigrated to the United States in 2000. Her genuine passion for immigration law is a direct result of her personal experience as an immigrant and extensive community involvement. Her own personal hardships in immigrating to America drive her to help her clients ease their transitions. Above all, Karen strives to provide her clients with the tools and resources they need to pursue their American dream by achieving the best results possible for each client.
