Program Overview

Primary care physicians top the list of searches for in-house physician recruitment professionals year after year. Healthcare reform and the aging of America continue to impact the demand for these physicians. Will our medical schools be able to produce enough physicians that want to go into primary care? This presentation will review current trends in medical school enrollment as well as trends in interest in primary care and service to underserved populations. The presenter will explore the many challenges the primary care workforce faces and discuss new models of primary care delivery. And finally, we will discuss the impact that these challenges and new models have on medical school and residency training.
