Greetings, ASPR members!

The health care landscape is ever changing and in-house physician recruitment professionals  know that better than anyone else. As regulations change, new policies are implemented, training programs shift focus, technology changes,  the population of the US ages, and we must all adapt to meet the needs of our organizations and communities.

ASPR was born 26 years ago when a group of individuals found themselves in positions that nobody had ever heard of, but were very much needed in the community. The group of volunteers who started ASPR set the foundation for education and networking that we still value 26 years later.

ASPR has always strived to keep our members informed about the latest trends and changes in health care, while exploring the effects that this all has on physician recruitment. As we move into a new era of health care in this country, physician recruitment professionals must be able to modify and adjust. It is ASPR’s role to assist you in this task.

Your current Board of Directors and leaders have worked very hard to meet the ever-changing needs of our membership. Some notable accomplishments from this past year include:

  • Recruited our new Executive Director, Carey Goryl
  • Revised the organizational structure of our Board of Directors.
  • Developed a new strategic plan
  • Updated the ASPR benchmarking survey
  • Updated all of our ASPR fellowship modules
  • Achieved our highest membership ever at 1,630 and counting
  • Obtained our highest attendance at our 2016 annual conference with 554 attendees
  • Held our first annual 5K run/walk raising $3,375 for the St. Bernard’s Project, which helps rebuild communities in need after devastation

Looking ahead, we will continue to support and grow our volunteer leaders; recruit new volunteers; finalize our new Board structure; update our technology (website to be moved to a mobile platform, and updated listserve-chat forum is in the works); continue to foster our relationships with our chapters and regional groups; and begin work with an educational consultant on curriculum development to streamline and expand our education across all modules/mediums. Most importantly, we will continue to support you, our members, as you “Transform Health Care in Our Communities” every day.

It was a pleasure to spend time with so many of you in New Orleans, I am excited to be a part of such a vibrant, dynamic organization.

Warm regards—
