Partnering with the right relocation company – Spring 2014
Share |

By Marcy Dante, Executive Director Medical Relocation, Apex Moving & Storage

Relocation is one of the most central elements of the hiring process. New physicians are excited, yet anxious about the prospects of a buying a new home, making new friends and, of course, their new position. Selecting the right relocation management company is a crucial step in planning a physician’s move for a new assignment. You want to make sure you are in the capable hands of a company with global outreach. Helping your new physician acclimate quickly will ensure a successful relocation, retention and return on your investment.

When shopping for a relocation management company, look for a company that offers a range of services. Here are three questions to ask when vetting potential relocation companies:

  • Is the process fully integrated and aligned with your organization’s planned approach?
  • Can the move be customized to meet the physician’s personal needs and situation?
  • Will the relocation firm keep your physician’s best interests-not just profit-in mind?

The performance of the relocation management company, not necessarily corporate relationships, should drive use. Look for a company that will deliver on service and value. Check its history and get testimonials from clients.

The results of a successful move should be measurable. From budgeting for expenses to tracking challenges and opportunities for improvement, the company you choose should work with you as a partner to offer continuous improvement to your relocation process.
