Resource Library Featured Content: What is Onboarding?
Physician onboarding is a comprehensive system by which newly hired physicians are fully integrated into both the hiring organization’s workforce community and the community at large. It provides a streamlined process that organizes paperwork, data and education in a customer service driven program. It is a very important part of the hiring process and a good onboarding process often leads to higher retention rates. Yet, many organizations lack a formal onboarding process or rely on a haphazard set of steps, often missing key elements and leaving a new provider feeling somewhat disjointed.
The Resource Library has an entire section devoted to onboarding, including the document “What is Onboarding?” This document describes exactly what onboarding is and how a successful onboarding program may help increase retention rates. The Resource Library also has a number of sample documents to help you develop an onboarding process or improve your program if it is lacking certain key elements. Don’t let your efforts in recruiting a provider go to waste…make sure your onboarding process provides them with a warm, welcoming start and they are sure to stay with your organization for many years!
